Alex Scott held her cards close to her breast when asked about an alleged romantic relationship with a member of One Direction.
The TV host and former England player, 38, appeared as a special guest on Mo Gilligan‘s The Lateish Show with Harry Hill on Friday night.
Mo placed Alex in the limelight as she confessed she had ‘personal motives’ for backing her colleague Gary Lineker during his standoff with the BBC.
The host of Channel 4’s late-night chat show launched into his questions without notice, leaving the crowd roaring and Alex blushing.
‘What about you, Alex?’ he said, leaning forward. Because I’ve heard one of One Direction’s members has approached you. Is this correct?’
Alex quickly flushed and looked down at the floor when an image of One Direction was flashed to the audience.

In an attempt to defend and deflect, she said, ‘What band? What? I enjoy a little Watermelon Sugar, a little Pillow Talk, and a little Slow Hands.’
But Mo wasn’t having it, and went one step further in his pursuit of the truth from the BBC football pundit: ‘It was Harry! ‘Was that Harry?’
However, Alex repeated once more that she would not react, attempting to take the subject forward by answering, ‘Dunno. I’m not gonna say.’
In response, Mo continued to question her while the audience applauded: ‘Harry’s got those white boy hips, y’know. Wearing the platform shoes.’
At this point in the conversation, Alex admitted to those watching that ‘Harry’s got it going on a little bit’.
Mo’s questions did not stop with the As It Was vocalist; he also inquired about other members of the What Makes You Beautiful ensemble.
‘What about Niall Horan?,’ he asked.
‘Come on, we’re not getting any juice out of you, is there anything?’, but Alex shut him down again and revealed nothing.
Alex mentioned in her biography, How (Not) to Be Strong, that she is open to dating both men and women and has dated a former teammate.
She admitted to being in a relationship with former footballer Kelly Smith between 2005 and 2013, and she currently uses the celebrity dating app Raya.
Alex will compete for the 2023 Women’s Football Awards journalist of the year award on May 25 at London’s Nobu Hotel.
