Alison Hammond has said that when his school removed his phone, her son Aiden’s attitude improved.
The future Bake Off host, 48, said the 18-year-old was ‘nicer and kinder’ and ‘performed his job better’ after his instructors took his phone away, as she backed a blanket ban on Wednesday’s This Morning.
Based on her experience with Aiden, Alison agreed with a recent UN study that recommended for schools to prohibit phones during class time in order to increase learning, decrease classroom disturbance, and combat cyberbullying.
She told ITV viewers: ‘Personally, I think we should ban phones and they should be returned at the end of the day because I’ve had a son, he’s had his phone confiscated.
‘When he had his phone confiscated I loved it: he was a nicer person, he was kinder and he did his work better. I personally think they should get rid of them.’
Alison had Aiden with her ex-husband, Manchester cab driver Noureddine Boufaied.
Aiden keeps out of the spotlight, despite reports that he was approached by Love Island producers.
But according to MailOnline while Alison was ‘flattered’, Aiden ultimately ‘turned down the offer.’
He made a very rare TV appearance last year, appearing alongside his mother in a Disneyland feature for This Morning.

Alison had been reporting from the Paris theme park celebrating its 30th anniversary when she stated she was going to experience the rides with her kid.
She then called out: ‘Come on in Aidan come and say hello to everybody! I’ve got my baby here! Come and say hello.’
Grinning alongside her son, the proud mum couldn’t wait to show him off as she said: ‘We’re going to go on the rides now and enjoy ourselves! See you later!’
Alison said in 2021 that she was considering expanding her family and adopting another kid.
The presenter shared that she still has ‘so much more love to give’ and that she’s determined to have another kid in the future.
She said: ‘I was so nervous about becoming a mum in the beginning, and I look back and think: “What was I nervous about?”
‘He has enriched my life in ways I never even imagined. He’s brought so much joy, I can’t imagine life without him.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
