Amanda Holden has made it clear that she does not want her children to participate in Love Island.
The 51-year-old judge on Britain’s Got Talent is married to record producer Chris Hughes, with whom she has daughters Lexi, 17, and Hollie, 11.
Presenting Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and guest Ashley Roberts, the topic quickly shifted to the smash hit reality show, presented by Maya Jama, 28.
The former Pussycat Doll panellist was challenged by the former Pussycat Doll if she would ever allow her children to jet off to the villa, and the panellist emphatically said, “No!”
Ashley, age 41, likened her fear to that of Gordon Ramsay, who stated he was too scared to watch the ITV series in case one of his three children was a contestant.
Amanda went on, “I mean, it’s just another route to fame, right?” Love isn’t even the point. All that matters is that you look well and that you make an effort to participate…
‘But I mean, it’s just amazing telly but it’s not really for love so I don’t want my daughter anywhere near [it].’
The singer did say that “every now and then it succeeds,” citing the recent birth of Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury’s kid as an example.
Amanda replied: ‘I mean that’s a one-off that’s a fabulous story.’

After witnessing Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma compete in the villa, the actress said she forbade Lexi from applying to the programme.
She added, “This is becoming a bit of an obsession with my teenage daughter at home now” in reference to the 2018 Heart competition, which was won by Ekin-Su Cülcülolu and Davide Sanclimenti.
‘She’s never taken one scrap of interest in Love Island and now is all over it, which worries me slightly bearing in mind Michael Owen’s daughter is on it. And I’m like “You ain’t ever going on it, Alexa!”’
Jamie then quipped: ‘Imagine if she did, she’d be perfect for the show.’
Amanda shut it down quickly, retorting: ‘I can imagine it and she’s not! Mama said no! She loves me too much, she won’t do it.’
Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden broadcasts weekdays from 6:30am – 10am across the UK and on Global Player.
