*Warning: This contains Reacher season 2 episode 4 spoilers.
After a surprise cameo in the second season, Reacher fans implored an actor to “come back again mate.”
Based on Lee Child’s mystery books, the Amazon Prime Video series follows six-foot-five vagabond and ex-military man Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) as he becomes engaged in investigations of mysterious killings and government corruption.
This time, Reacher is reunited with members of his previous US Army unit after they are suddenly murdered off one by one, but fans were especially excited to see a familiar face among the new cast.
Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin), a police officer who assisted Reacher in bringing down a counterfeit currency ring in season 1, makes a brief return in episode 4.
Reacher enlists the help of an old friend who is still a cop to arrest a government official in a cocaine sting operation in order to obtain critical information concerning the deaths of his army unit while under interrogation.
The comeback went down a storm with fans of the action series on X, with Greg Andrews enthusing: ‘That surprise in Reacher season 2 episode 4 might be the best cameo of all time. I was all of the emotions. #Reacher#reachers2#reacherseason2 @primevideouk.’
Echoing Greg’s sentiment, Austin Harris added: ‘#Reacher episode 4 is amazing! Awesome ending to the episode, awesome surprise cameo, and I’m just enjoying this season so far.’
Seb Williams also commented: ‘FINLAYYYYYYY!!! Nice cameo. Cool choice showing the badge before the reveal. Episode 4 was another treat. They should just go ahead and lock this series in for 10 seasons.. for starters. Breaking arms with his head. They really cast this show well. Ritchson is a beast! #Reacher.’
According to the synopsis, ‘Reacher season two begins when veteran military police investigator Jack Reacher receives a coded message that the members of his former US Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations, are being mysteriously and brutally murdered one by one.
‘Pulled from his drifter lifestyle, Reacher reunites with three of his former teammates turned chosen family to investigate, including Frances Neagley (Maria Sten); Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan), a forensic accountant for whom Reacher has long had a soft spot; and fast-talking, switchblade-wielding family man David O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos).
‘Together, they begin to connect the dots in a mystery where the stakes get higher at every turn, and that brings about questions of who has betrayed them—and who will die next.’
Reacher was renewed for season 2 just three days after it premiered on Amazon Prime after becoming a huge hit with viewers.

At the time, Amazon stated that Reacher was one of the top five most-watched shows in the United States and internationally during a 24-hour period.
Child has previously stated that it was up to the viewers if the series will return, although there is undoubtedly enough source material to keep fans entertained for several decades.
Speaking he joked: ‘By October, they’ll be 27 books. So there’s 26 more seasons to go by which time I’ll be about a hundred, and that would work for me.’

Meanwhile, Reacher actor Alan previously disclosed the arduous training he does in preparation for filming, describing it as ‘an onslaught on all fronts.’
Speaking to Men’s Journal, he explained: ‘I try to stay lean, so I’m usually walking around at 205 pounds. For this I wanted to bulk up though, and I ended up putting on 30 pounds to end up at 235 pounds. I was grinding it out five days a week for the eight months that we had to prep.’
As well as cracking out the weights to get bigger, the actor also revealed that his diet was the most important part of his prep, joking that he had ‘a conveyer belt of food’.
Ritchson added: ‘It’s a full-time job to get 4,500 calories and 300 grams of protein in your body. I was lucky that I had the help.’
Tom Cruise portrayed Reacher in the 2012 film adaption and its 2016 sequel, but his casting was severely panned.
Reacher is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
