According to a devastating new revelation, Andrew Tate was removed from the Big Brother house in 2016 owing to a sexual assault and physical abuse probe.
The self-proclaimed’success coach,’ who was arrested in Romania last week as part of a human trafficking and rape probe alongside his brother Tristan, starred in the 17th series of the Channel 5 reality show.
According to Vice, producers were aware about the ongoing investigation by police at the time of his participation on the show, but they left him in the house for five days before removing him.
Tate was seen playing truth or dare in a hot tub and kissing one of the female participants during his time in the Borehamwood bunker.
He was eventually booted from Big Brother, with Channel 5 citing ‘information that came to light’ as the reason.
Banijay UK, which owns Endemol Shine, the production company behind Big Brother, has now stated that it began a process of “extensive engagement with Channel 5 and legal teams, including the solicitors representing Andrew Tate” after being notified by police on June 8, 2016.
Vice informs Banijay UK stated that Tate was ‘closely observed at all times’ during this time as they attempted to obtain information on the police investigation required by Channel 5.
On June 13, he was kicked off Big Brother.
‘As soon as we were made aware by Hertfordshire Police on 8th June 2016 that Andrew Tate was being investigated by the police, we began a process of extensive consultation with Channel 5, and legal teams, including the lawyers representing Andrew Tate,’ a spokesperson for the production company told the publication. During this time, and while we worked to provide Channel 5 with the information they needed on the police investigation, Andrew was closely observed at all times.’
Many others blamed Tate’s expulsion on a video that surfaced showing him slapping his ex-girlfriend before striking her with a belt. She eventually stood out in his support, explaining that it had all been a ‘big misunderstanding’.
It was claimed last week that Romanian authorities had been granted authorization to keep Tate for 30 days.
He and his brother Tristan were detained on charges of human trafficking, rape, and creating an organised crime ring.
