Arnold Schwarzenegger recalls his parents questioning his sexuality after he began hanging photos of ‘oiled up nude males’ in his adolescent bedroom.
Arnie, a new Netflix documentary on the Terminator actor, 75, explores the narrative of his “multifaceted life and career, from bodybuilding champ to Hollywood icon to politician.”
Arnold has spoken up about growing up with Nazi father beatings and the ‘crushing’ time he had to inform ex-wife Maria Shriver about his ‘love kid.’ He has also commented on how his parents previously questioned his sexuality.
Arnold stated in one episode that his mother had ‘freaked out’ at the prospect of his being gay since he had images of oiled-up bodybuilders on his bedroom wall.
It all started when he saw English bodybuilder Reg Park play Hercules in a series of films in the 1960s and wanted to be a bodybuilder.
‘I was so amazed by this body, I just could not get it out of my mind,’ he explained.
‘The testosterone was kicking in, getting interested in girls was kicking in, everything started happening.’
