Succession’s most recent episode was a family affair in more ways than one, as Brian Cox’s real-life wife, Nicole Ansari-Cox, appeared as Logan Roy’s mistress.
The world assembled for the Roy patriarch’s burial in the penultimate episode of season four, with his offspring, Connor (Alan Ruck), Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kieran Culkin), leading those expressing their final goodbyes.
As the mourners sat down, Lady Caroline (Harriet Walter) introduced ‘Sally-Anne’ as her very own ‘Kerry,’ admitting the newcomer was one of her ex-husband’s numerous mistresses.
She also asked Kerry Castellabate (Zoe Winters) to sit next to Logan’s third wife, Marcia (Hiam Abbass), in the first row.
They tittered, ‘God, Logan would hate this,’ and Marcia added, ‘At least he won’t grind his teeth tonight.’
It didn’t take long for viewers to notice the similarities between the newcomer and Brian, who portrayed Logan flawlessly for four seasons.
Flocking to Twitter, an eagle-eyed viewer penned: ‘The fact that they snuck Brian Cox’s real life wife into #Succession as one of his side pieces is brilliant!’

Logan’s death early in the fourth and final season threw viewers for a loop, with his on-screen family falling apart as a result of his loss.
The revelation may have come as a surprise, as Brian was seen filming a fake-out scenario at Logan’s burial to throw people off guard.
When asked if he was “completely out” of Succession following his death, he smiled and said, “I mean, I did actually turn up for the funeral.”
‘On my funeral day, they were going to do a scene with me, a fake scene with me at the church, so, just to throw people off the scent.’

The bosses really ran out of time to film the sequence and told the actor he didn’t need to come down, but he was already on his way to set and decided to show up anyway.
‘I said, look, I’m coming in, because I know there’s going to be a whole lot of paparazzi there, and they’re going to be wondering what that funeral is. I am coming in,’ he recalled.
‘So, I said to my driver, I said, Joe, let’s go, we’re going. So, and as soon as I got out of the car, there were paparazzi shooting me left, right and center, and therefore, they thought, Logan’s at the funeral, what is he doing?
‘If I hadn’t done that, if I hadn’t come, they would’ve gone, it’s Logan’s funeral. And I was the one who took that responsibility. They didn’t even think of it. They were so rushed, and so much [of] this last season was very difficult to film.’

The Succession finale will air on Sunday, May 28, on HBO in the US, and on Monday on and NOW.
