Viewers of Britain’s Got Talent have demanding ‘justice’ after artist Tonikaku narrowly missed making it to the final.
With his unusual performance of appearing to be butt naked on stage, the Japanese comedian has gained a large following.
He made a commotion when he originally auditioned for the talent competition series, walking on stage in a bathrobe and told the judges and audience he was about to “get naked.”
Instead of stripping naked, his amusing performance consisted of his posing in a way that covered up his pants, giving the impression he was starkers.
However, despite making it most of the way through the 2023 tournament, Tonikaku was eliminated in the most recent semi-final.
Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, together with fan votes, chose who will take the stage one last time during a nail-biting episode on Friday night.
Cillian O’Connor was the first candidate to advance to the final round after winning the public vote, with the judges then deciding between 13-year-old dancer Lilliana Clifton and Tonikaku.
However, after Bruno, Amanda, and Alesha all came out in support of Lilliana, the naked posing act was dropped, much to the chagrin of many.
‘Tonikaku was robbed,’ several fans posted on Twitter.
‘Tonikaku deserved to be in the final,’ someone else wrote.
Another added: ‘Tonikaku is everything you want to see on a talent contest. It’s not boring, it’s hilarious and leaves you talking and laughing about it afterwards.’
Back when Tonikaku auditioned, Simon told the comedian that he was ‘honestly the funniest contestant we’ve had on all year’.
‘[You are] really, really funny and original…you are unbelievable and you are brilliant. I absolutely love you.’
The final of Britain’s Got Talent will premiere on Sunday, with Malakai Bayoh, Duo Odyssey, Musa Motha, Amy Lou, Viggo Venn, Olivia Lynes, Ghetto Kids, and Travis George competing with Cillian and Lilliana.
The winner will walk away with a life-changing £250,000 prize.
Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
