Amy Dowden of Strictly Come Dancing will be among the renowned faces competing in the next series of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, in a line-up that only Strictly and I’m A Celeb could dream of.
Love Island contestants Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti will compete to see who can find the greatest antiques and make the most money at auction.
In the upcoming episodes, reality personality Gemma Collins, BBC Radio 1 presenter Melvin Odoom, 1980s music sensations Samantha Fox and Sinitta, and news anchor twins Geeta and Krishnan Guru-Murthy will all strive to unearth buried riches.
Amy’s presence comes while she is presently undergoing treatment after disclosing earlier this year that she had undergone a mastectomy after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
Amy, 33, who has kept her followers updated during multiple rounds of chemotherapy, will compete against Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies, 39, who performed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
Sara said: ‘Being with Amy made it even more special for me, and to be able to spend that time together and share the experience was just brilliant.’
While Amy has been missing from the new season of Strictly owing to her diagnosis, she did return to the studios and wrote an emotional letter of support to the current group.
It read: ‘Tune in tonight for the first results show of the series! The standard this year is insane. What a great two live shows so far.
‘I was lucky to be able to be there for tonights opening number a few weeks back and all I can say is WOW! What another incredible number created by @jasongilkison.
‘It’s moments like this I need right now, escaping me from my now at the moment reality and I’m so thankful to the entire @bbcstrictly for this. Hoping to back with the gang real soon.
Her post continued: ‘I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so much support which I don’t take for granted and days like here is what keeps me going.
‘I’m dreaming every night of dancing on that floor again but right now I’m my fellow pro’s proudest and biggest cheerleader.’
Amy, who recently cut her hair due to her struggle, sent an appeal to her fans earlier this week in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
She said on social media: ‘I want to ask you guys a favour, please help raise awareness. There are too many of us suffering with this but also we need to get more people checking their chests.
‘Let’s make it a regular thing. It just needs to be once a month get to know your own chests. Please, please, please, let’s speak about it, let’s raise awareness – social posts, talk to your friends and family galore.
‘Please, please, please, let’s bring the community together. Let’s do all we possibly can for breast cancer awareness month.’
