After airing a feature on Halloween-themed Christmas trees, This Morning viewers threw up their mid-morning coffees in disgust.
The presenting team of Holly Willoughby and Josie Gibson couldn’t keep viewers from voicing their displeasure with the seemingly innocuous feature.
As is customary, October is generally spent anticipating Halloween, with many stores and other retail places displaying their best frightful decorations.
On This Morning, it was proposed that it could be worth putting up a Christmas tree in October and adorning it with Halloween decorations.
It was a notion that did not sit well with the viewers at home, who took to social media to vent their displeasure.
Viewers on X (previously Twitter) were quick to point out that such suggestions would not be as popular with a widespread cost of living crisis.

‘Halloween tree? For god’s sake! No,’ one user wrote, while another remarked that it was a step too far to recommend Halloween trees as well as Christmas ones.
‘What a waste of money! And we’re in a cost of living crisis, for god’s sake,’ another viewer said, again bringing up the difficulties faced by families.
Watching on at home, one person wondered: ‘Am I just an old grumpy b*****d or is the idea of a Halloween tree just complete f**kwittery at its finest?’

The Halloween tree incident occurred after Good Morning Britain anchor Susanna Reid may have disclosed Phillip Schofield‘s successor.
Since Phillip, 61, departed the show earlier this year, there has been much conjecture about who will take his place as host.
During a lighthearted conversation with Coleen Nolan about her ‘defection from Loose Women,’ Susanna stated that it was “revenge for This Morning nicking Ben Shepherd.”
An ITV spokesperson said: ‘Ben is a much loved and popular presenter on ITV but no such decisions have been made.’
However, it has been stated that ITV executives are impressed with Ben’s connection with Holly Willoughby and are optimistic about the pair’s future.
‘Ben is known throughout ITV as being very popular with the audiences of whatever shows he hosts,’ they told MailOnline.
