Chris Kamara, who confesses to having “good and terrible days,” is willing to “do everything” to alleviate brain inflammation.
In 2022, the famed sportscaster stated that he was suffering from the speech disease apraxia in addition to an existing thyroid problem.
Kammy, who became an iconic character on Soccer Saturday – Sky Sports‘ weekend goal programme – announced his retirement from the broadcaster after 24 years when his ailment became public.
The actor has now dived deeper into his issue, declaring that he is prepared to do everything to address the ailment.
‘I’ve got inflammation on my brain, that’s the reason I have good days and bad days.’
‘I was with Shep yesterday as we said, yesterday was a bad day. Today is better, so much better. What I’m doing is gluten-free diet, dairy-free diet, I am trying anything, alternative medicines.’
As friend ‘Shep’ jumped in: ‘Caffeine-free, alcohol-free…’
Chris added he was ‘trying all these vitamins to try and see if it helps, and hopefully, fingers crossed.’
Chris raised eyebrows in March of last year when he appeared to slur his words during an appearance on Sky Sports‘ Soccer Saturday.
Speaking in his ITV documentary Chris Kamara: Lost For Words, he said: ‘I continued doing programmes and, all of a sudden, people are tweeting me or asking my friends ‘Is he OK? Is something wrong with him? Is he drunk? He’s slurring his words, he sounds slow.’
The host discussed his diagnosis with friends ‘Shep’ and colleague commentator Jedd Stelling, who acknowledged to having dementia concerns at first.
Chris acknowledged on the show that he is on the side of the public when it comes to his Masked Singer outfit.
After becoming the first person to be ousted from The Masked Singer, the singer pleased fans when he was confirmed to be taking part in the 2023 series.
Nevertheless, his Ghost costume did not go down well with viewers, who said that it was unimpressive and just looked like he was wearing a sheet.
In comparison, some of the most elaborate outfits, such as Jellyfish, Phoenix, and Rhino, won the series uncontested.
Nevertheless, when shown a photo of himself on the programme, Kammy bursts out laughing and confesses he was ‘given a sheet’ in compared to the other outfits.
Ben and Kate interviewed Chris about his time on the show, and both his Ghost and Charlie Simpson’s Rhino costumes appeared on the screen side by side.
‘Look at that, I got a sheet!’ said the sports expert, belly-laughing as he peered at the television. Look at all those amazing outfits on The Masked Singer; I got a sheet.’
Long-time friend and coworker Ben poked fun at him even more by asking whether he felt the employers ‘invest in the ones they think will last.’
Despite being kicked from the show first, Kammy stated he ‘liked’ his experience on The Masked Singer, calling it’so much fun.’
‘The emotion of my grandchildren when I was exposed was priceless; I would have paid a million pounds for it.’
