Craig Doyle, host of This Morning, has announced that he will be leaving the show.
Craig, 52, revealed on Thursday’s edition of the ITV show that he wouldn’t be appearing on the show for a while.
Instead of hosting, he’s going on vacation with his family to enjoy the summer.
As the show began, presenter and co-host Josie Gibson described what was going on.
‘Hello everyone, welcome to your Thursday’s This Morning. I’m a bit giddy, holidays are tomorrow. Gone,’ he exclaimed.
‘You off aren’t you, off on your holiday,’ Josie responded.
She then added: ‘And I’m here, with the one and only Alison Hammond.’
Craig then chimed in, saying that seeing the two presenters together would be fantastic for people watching.
‘You’ve got Hammond in, the two of you in here. Unmissable,’ he said.
Josie then joked: ‘I don’t know how they are going to manage us.’
Turning to Josie, Craig said: ‘Hey it’s been fun, I’m looking forward to holidays but it’s been great fun, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, busy day today though isn’t it?’
Fans were visibly pleased by the news of a mix in the lineup.
‘Yay Alison is back,’ one person posted on Twitter.
Another made it clear they also loved seeing Craig and Josie lead the show: ‘They are the best presenters right now. This Morning, take note.’
The Irish TV and radio host, who has previously headed coverage of sports such as rugby and motorcycle racing, will join This Morning in late 2021.
Initially presenting the contests, he began appearing as a guest presenter alongside Alison, and subsequently with Josie, Mollie King, and Rochelle Humes over the summer vacations, roughly six months later.
Craig appears to be in desperate need of a vacation after lately admitting to being drunk at work.
Last week, he stated on live that a few midweek beers had resulted in an unexpected hangover, leaving him a little worse for wear.
While Josie tried her hardest to cheer him on throughout the three-hour show, Craig said it was worth it for a wonderful night out with his rugby team.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
