Stephen Lustig-Webb, who was forced to withdraw from Dancing On Ice, has been replaced by a Winter Olympics icon.
Following the departure of the Gogglebox star, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards will take his position in the lineup.
Eddie stated in a statement, ‘It’s bittersweet because, while I’m happy to be taking part in the new season, I’m heartbroken for Stephen and wish him a rapid recovery.
‘Dancing on Ice is a show I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a challenge I think I’m going to relish!’
Eddie, born Michael David Edwards, is most remembered for becoming the first skiier to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping.
The now-59-year-old achieved legendary status as a result of his amazing career, which was represented in the 2016 film starring Taron Egerton.
Stephen, who just departed Gogglebox after a decade, had to withdraw from Dancing On Ice due to an injury.
It was discovered that the reality TV star had injured his ankle and had departed the programme on the recommendation of medical authorities.
A spokesperson for ITV said at the time: ‘Stephen Lustig-Webb has had to withdraw from the show due to an injury he sustained to his ankle during training.
‘He is still very much a part of the Dancing On Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery.’
Stephen was spotted for the first time since his injury caused him to quit from Dancing On Ice a few days ago.
While his leg was in a huge cast, he was observed walking with crutches.
Despite the cooler weather in autumn, Stephen dressed for his excursion in shorts and a T-shirt.
He did, however, wear a gilet to layer up a little and accessorise with a hat.
It was claimed by a source to the Daily Mail that Stephen was ‘gutted’ that he could no longer be a part of the line-up.
Dancing On Ice returns to ITV in 2024.
