Carley Stenson of Dancing On Ice has stated that she has been ‘barred’ from performing headbangers ahead of her performance this Sunday with partner Mark Hanretty.
The Hollyoaks actress is up against Towie’s Joey Essex, Patsy Palmer from EastEnders, football icon John Fashanu, and Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcülolu.
Carley and Mark will compete for the attention of Dancing On Ice broadcasters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, as well as judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo, and Oti Mabuse.
One of the most iconic ice movements is the headbanger, which involves one partner spinning the other from her ankles while her body goes up and down with her head practically hitting the ice.
Carley, on the other hand, has been barred from doing the deadly manoeuvre and will not attempt it.
‘No, I’m not permitted to, my mum said I’m not allowed,’ she told journalists.
‘No genuinely, we’ve said we’re going to try and find something that’s just as challenging and just as impressive, so that’s a lot of homework for Mark.’
Carley commented after being confirmed as one of the celebs taking part in this series, ‘I’m really pleased that I get to learn how to dance…on ice!’ I’m afraid but excited.
‘I just want to make the most of this whole experience.’
She also spoke about competing against husband Danny Mac, who reached the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2016 and was defeated by Ore Oduba.
‘He’s massively supportive,’ Carley said, adding: ‘But then he also does add in, “I was runner up though, babe”.’
‘Even if I make the final, we’ll be equal, I’ll be fine!’
Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
