Siva Kaneswaran devoted his Dancing On Ice performance to his late father during Dance Week on Sunday’s programme, gliding to his best mark of the series thus far.
They danced to Commodores’ Three Times A Lady with professional partner Klabera Komini as he paid homage to his father on the anniversary of his passing with an emotional waltz.
The song was chosen by the 34-year-old because it was his ‘first recollection’ of his father, who died when he was six.
The judges described their performance as ‘beautiful,’ praising The Wanted star’s grace and confidence in his first slower number.
Siva and Klabera went on to earn 30, due to a panel of 7.5 all around from Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill, and Christopher Dean, their highest result to date.
Siva congratulated his mother, who raised eight children on her alone, after their skating.
Judge Christopher said: ‘It’s simply your best skate. The skating was so lovely, so strong, so tender and masculine at the same time.’
Ashley also congratulated him on the way that he holds and presents himself as a non-dancer, while Oti added: ‘You are what this competition is all about. You are a little bit of a dark horse.’
His skating and its very personal dedication also touched viewers at home, with one tweeting: ‘Such a beautiful performance, you’ve done your dad and your family so proud, Seev.’
‘That was the best performance of the night for me so far. So graceful and elegant. A lovely performance and routine,’ added another. ‘Siva you did your Dad proud. Well done to Klabera too.’
‘This gave me goosebumps, it was beautiful,’ commented one viewer.
In other news, Ekin-Su Cülcülolu, who revealed an injury only hours before the event, had a shirtless surprise cameo from lover Davide Sanclimenti at the conclusion of her fun-filled skate to Car Wash.
Dancing On Ice continues next Sunday at 6:25pm on ITV1.
