David Tennant stunned fans by starring in the Star Wars series Ahsoka.
In The Mandalorian spin-off, which follows Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates a new threat to a defenceless galaxy, the Doctor Who actor, 52, portrays Huyang, the droid professor who taught young Jedis how to manufacture lightsabers.
Disney Plus viewers collectively gasped when it dawned on them the Good Omens star was playing the character, with one exclaiming: ‘DAVID TENNANT IS IN STAR WARS?! WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THIS?! #Ahsoka’
‘Hello David Tennant! #Ahsoka Love a good sci-fi crossover especially #DrWho and#StarWars,’ another enthused, while a third added: ‘I love that David Tennant is part of the #StarWars universe!!! #Ahsoka.’
David had previously been touted for a role in Ahsoka after his voice was heard in one of the sci-fi drama’s teasers.
David has previously voiced Huyang in three episodes of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars more than a decade ago in 2012.

Dave Filoni, the creator of Ahsoka, commented about David’s participation at the Star Wars Celebration in London in April, calling him a ‘delight and a ‘pleasure’ to work with.
‘He makes it all work,’ Dave added.
David will not only be returning to Star Wars, but he will also be returning to Doctor Who, along with Catherine Tate, very soon.

David will reprise his role as the Time Lord for three special episodes of the legendary BBC show in November to commemorate the show’s 60th anniversary.
The actor played the Doctor from 2005 until 2010, then returned for a special five years later.
He said that, while he was always’receptive to the thought’ of returning, it took some ‘wrangling’ until he was convinced by Russell T Davies’ taking on as showrunner.
‘Initially, it was a casual conversation going, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to do a one-off?’ Then Russell was back running the show and suddenly it could be something bigger,’ he explained.
David added to Radio Times: ’But there’s really no pressure. It’s a victory lap, in a way – you get to enjoy something that had meant so much to you one last shot before you get too old to do it again.’
Ahsoka is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
