Denise Welch has announced her departure from Loose Women and departure on a ‘adventure,’ after Carol McGiffin’s acrimonious leave from the panel programme.
Denise, who previously said that her son Matty Healy is ‘totally destroyed’ on his global tour, is now taking a ‘few of weeks’ off from her phone and social media.
The 1975 vocalist, who has inspired allegations of a love relationship with Taylor Swift, is presently on tour throughout the world till the end of September.
Denise, 65, has stated that she is temporarily leaving Loose Women after revealing how exhausted her son is.
In a video shared to her followers on Instagram, the former Coronation Street actress said: ‘Well on this day, on my 65th birthday, I want to thank you in advance for all the lovely messages and comments that I’ve received.
‘I’m going off on a little adventure for a couple of weeks so I’m going to be off here and off my phone.
‘I don’t quite know how I’m going to cope, but I’m going to give it a try, so don’t think I have disappeared.
‘It’s just a temporary little holiday and I’ll be back soon, so lots and lots of love.’
Denise, who is married to public relations manager Lincoln Townley, went on to say, ‘I’ll be with my spouse, so we’re both off on an adventure.’

‘Lots and lots of love, and I remember on this day, it’s not only my birthday but it’s the anniversary of when we lost my gorgeous mum Annie, and just to say for those missing their mums, I’m thinking of you.
‘But it’s a full circle, she brought me into the world on the 22nd May, and she left the world, holding mine and my sisters’ hands on the 22nd May.
‘So it’s a celebration of life as well, so lots of love I’ll see you soon.’
She added in the caption: ‘Thank you and au revoir for a couple of weeks!!!’
This comes after Denise revealed details of her sin’s stressful life, stating, ‘Matty is completely devastated.
‘He’s on a world tour and as much as it’s hard to go, “Oh, please feel sorry for my boy,” people don’t realise that it’s gruelling to be the lead singer, the creator, the writer, the producer of a massive show on the scale that Matthew does.
‘Then he gets on stage and gets in a plane and flies seven hours and then flies 24 hours.’
Taylor, the singer of Love Story, has recently been the subject of allegations of a connection with Matty, following her breakup with partner of six years Joe Alwyn.
They’ve been sighted together several times since the rumours started, and insiders claim to have seen them ‘cuddling and kissing’.
Denise has two boys, Matty and actor Louis Healy, with her ex-husband of 24 years, Tim Healy.
Denise’s departure from Loose Women comes after Carol McGiffin announced her departure from the ITV daytime show, claiming she was ‘forced’ to do so.
In her weekly column for Best magazine, Carol wrote: ‘The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say ‘no thanks.’”
She went on to say that she was ‘very angry about it,’ and that it was a decision she was “forced to make.”
Carol, 63, attacked Loose Women after announcing her departure, accusing the show of ‘pushing woke beliefs down people’s throats’.
In an interview with GB News, she explained her absence from the show, saying, ‘Well put it this way, reading all the comments from the piece at the weekend, there are a lot of people who believe the programme has gone very, very woke.’
She quipped that she no longer watches and added, ‘You simply don’t have to keep ramming this thing down people’s throats. It’s not only ITV; the BBC is possibly far worse.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
