Eamonn Holmes has slammed Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for seeming ‘drunk’ after the National Television Awards.
The couple had appeared in 2016 following the ceremony, still dressed in the same clothing as the night before, and were particularly excited.
It was a pretty legendary event at the time, with clips going viral across the world – and they laughed about it on the programme in 2019 with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
Holly told the pair she was ‘trying to hold it together,’ and laughed recalling ‘those crazy days.’
‘She added: ‘I remember thinking, “Is this OK? Is anyone going to come in and stop us?”
In an interview with Dan Wootton on GB News, Eamonn criticised the issue, saying it was inappropriate for them to be ‘advocating’ booze when he and Ruth Langsford were allegedly not permitted to market chocolate.
‘They have been allowed to turn up the next day advocating the use of drink – or something else, I don’t know – and sit on a couch [like] “I’m so drunk, I haven’t been to bed,” whatever, whatever,’ he said.
‘And yet ITV, the legacy of Ant McPartlin – lovely fella – who was in a driving accident where people were injured when he was under the influence of drunk. And yet they can promote that?’
Ant was involved in a vehicle accident in 2018 while driving under the influence of alcohol, for which he was fined and banned from driving for 20 months; this occurred two years after his obviously tipsy appearance on This Morning.
Eamonn went on to claim: ‘Ruth and I were prevented from advertising chocolate in an advert because it is a poisonous product. It would be poisonous, to advertise chocolate is poisonous and you wouldn’t be allowed to do it.’
‘Phillip can sell cars, she can sell anything else – she’s worried about not being able to sell anything now because of her image may well be damaged because she’s associated with Phillip. But these are rules for one and rules for another. Does that make me bitter? Maybe it does.’
He added that the situation on This Morning in 2016 was ‘either an act, in which case it’s false, or they are drunk, in which case it should not be allowed.’

The moment in question saw the pair open the show with Holly telling cameras viewers might have noticed ‘we’re still in the same clothes,’ adding: ‘I haven’t been home yet. I came straight here.’
She then got up and exhibited a mustard stain on her dress from when she was playing Pie Face at Ant’s place.
Phillip also mentioned the ‘drunken’ occasion with Ant and Dec on This Morning in 2019, saying they were sober enough to be on TV that morning.
‘Our boss was quiet in the gallery so we thought everything is fine – although we did hear him say, “Give them another drink.”‘
Holly went on to say that it was something they could only do once and ‘never again.’
The jab at Holly and Phillip’s supposedly intoxicated antics on This Morning came after a slew of shocking claims from former ITV personality Eamonn, who claimed the young runner Phillip admitted to having an affair with would be driven to the studio by cab from Phillip’s house on Friday mornings.
On Tuesday’s interview, the third installment of the GB News discussion, he also said he was now ’embarrassed and humiliated’ of how he backed the broadcaster when he came out as homosexual on This Morning.
After confessing to lying about an affair with a young male runner on the show, Phil has now departed This Morning and ITV in general.
As a result, he was dropped by his agent of 35 years and will no longer present the British Soap Awards, which would’ve been his final public committment, and was dropped as a Prince’s Trust ambassador on Tuesday, while the future of This Morning remains unknown.
Dan Wootton Tonight airs weekdays from 9pm on GB News.
