Olivia Lynes, the Golden Buzzer act of Viggo Venn and Amanda Holden, has advanced to the final of Britain’s Got Talent.
Tonight, a new set of artists walked the stage, hoping to wow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, and Amanda, but more crucially, the viewers at home, since only their votes can send them forward.
The BGT panel praised Yo Highness, Tia Connolly, Nathan & Joanne, Lewis Fuller and Andrew Stanton, and Johns’ Boys.
It was, however, a comic act. With his, ahem, unique One More Time remix, Viggo had the crowd on their feet, while Olivia had everyone in tears with her performance of Into The Unknown from Disney’s Frozen 2.
The final three were Viggo, Olivia, and the all-male Welsh choir John’s Boys, and Viggo was proclaimed tonight’s winner after wowing the judges with his show.
The judges then decided who would fill the second spot, with Bruno voting for John’s Boys and Alesha, Amanda, and Simon saving Olivia.
Olivia, 13, was asked to audition for the programme after being privately nominated by her mother and grandmother, and she blew the judges away with her rendition of Defying Gravity from Wicked.
‘I wasn’t expecting to do that,’ Amanda stated after hitting the famous bell. I always act on what my heart tells me. And everyone was on their feet, and Olivia, you truly deserved that moment. Olivia, I am extremely proud of you.’
Bruno also referred to the boy, who aspires to perform on the West End, as a’singing miracle.’
Olivia and Viggo will compete in Sunday’s final alongside dancer Musa Motha and singer Amy Lou.
Musa moved Bruno to tears once more during his poignant audition, in which he performed a dramatic piece of dance after having one of his legs amputated due to cancer.
Refusing to let up, he was determined to live out his ambition, which resulted in him receiving a BGT first when all four judges hit the golden buzzer for him.
He presented his narrative via dance again to close Monday’s semi-final, and the audience had to be instructed to settle down because they were clapping and whooping so loudly.
The Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals continue all this week on ITV1 and ITVX.
