Over the last three years, Emily in Paris has won the hearts of countless romcom, Paris, and well – life – enthusiasts, and that might be altering dramatically.
And, no, it wasn’t simply lockdown hysteria; it’s already been on for three seasons and is returning for a fourth.
The previous season ended on a number of cliffhangers.
Will she and Gabriel ever be together? Will Gabriel be awarded a Michelin star?
Is Alfie still in pain?
Will Mindy and her band compete in Eurovision? (If the creator’s statements in December are any indication, they most likely will be…)
We don’t know the answers to most of those.
But we do know that Emily in Paris will not be returning next season. Yes, you read that correctly.
So, Emily in… Rome?
Hold on, we’re not sure how we feel about this, but Lily Collins, the 34-year-old actress who plays Emily Cooper, alluded to this grim (or exciting?) truth at tonight’s Netflix Tudum Festival.
‘What I can tell you is that we have more fun, more fashion, and of course more drama for you all,’ she added in a video.
‘Emily is going to have to decide if everything she’s ever wanted is really what she needs.
‘And while Emily’s heart will always remain true to Paris, her life takes some unexpected twists this season.
‘Don’t be surprised to find her on a Roman holiday.’
Eek! What is this!
Other hints and sneak peeks were released regarding the future seasons of You, Squid Games, and the fan fave, Stranger Things, on the night, which was attended by a very excited crowd.
Just when we were getting all outdoorsy and sunny, Netflix does this to us. Typical.
