Warning: spoilers ahead for Ahsoka
The publication of Ahsoka on Disney Plus has raised many issues, one of the most pressing being the identity of a mysterious, wicked Inquisitor.
Many new characters were introduced in the first few episodes of the Star Wars programme, including Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), a former apprentice of Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson), and her beautiful pet Loth cat.
There were also new antagonists, such as former Jedi Baylan Skoll (played by the late Ray Stevenson), his student Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), and their collaborator Inquisitor Marrok, who wielded a double-bladed lightsaber.
So far, Marrok’s identity has remained unknown, since he battles beneath a fearsome-looking mask that he has yet to remove.
So, who could he possibly be? Fans have already come up with hypotheses… and the majority of them lead to either Ezra Bridger or Starkiller. Let’s find out who they are and why they may both be the man behind the mask.
Could the Inquisitor be Ezra Bridger?

It’s evident from the start of Ahsoka that Ezra was very close to the characters, notably Sabine, who was claimed to have fallen after the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) was murdered.
However, it has been revealed that Thrawn did not die… As a result, Ezra may still be alive.
Ezra was a Jedi who appeared in the anime series Star Wars Rebels and supposedly sacrificed himself to take Thrawn away from their galaxy.
While he was a revolutionary leader and freedom warrior, he was also drawn to the evil side of the Force after learning that his parents had been murdered.

My #Ahsoka theory: Marrok is really Ezra Bridger turned Inquisitor. pic.twitter.com/rjZBnBeyja

It is obvious in Ahsoka that Ezra is regarded as a hero who devoted his life to defend the people of the New Republic and bring down the Empire.
However, considering that viewers are now unaware of his location and that he did have some clashes with the evil side, some believe he may be Marrok.
‘Ezra possibly being revealed as Marrok would add a sense of tragedy for the heroes in this story & would make for a great turn of events in my opinion. I’m like 50% convinced that he is Marrok but I’ll wait until we see more. It just makes too good of sense for it not to be him,’ one person tweeted.
Will Starkiller be revealed behind Marrok’s mask?
Please I need #Marrok to be Starkiller more than anything, like imagine Vader’s secret apprentice versus Anakin’s lost apprentice pic.twitter.com/81owsAd56I

Starkiller, alias Galen Marek, is another individual suspected of being Marrok.
Starkiller is Darth Vader’s secret apprentice in the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Starkiller was the son of two Jedi Knights, but he was exposed to the dark side of the Force at an early age and taught in Sith techniques.
Sam Witwer, who also created the character’s image, gave the character’s voice.
One astute fan who kept a careful eye on the Ahsoka credits saw that Sam was actually credited for delivering extra voicework in post-production, fueling speculation that Starkiller may appear in live-action.
Marrok is Starkiller from The Force Unleashed game series. Keeping his face hidden at first made it appear as if he were Ezra but as his character bio states he was hunting jedi during the reign of the Empire as an inquisitor so Ezra being in deep space with Thrawn rules him out pic.twitter.com/zznbuCYyVz

‘In the depths of the credits of episode two, where we heard Marrok grunt in his battle with Ahsoka, Sam Witwer is listed as one of the additional voices that did post-production with Skywalker Sound. Are our Starkiller dreams real?’ they wrote.
Another added: ‘Please I need #Marrok to be Starkiller more than anything, like imagine Vader’s secret apprentice versus Anakin’s lost apprentice.’
It would undoubtedly make for a thrilling match-up!
Ahsoka is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
