Netflix has cancelled fantasy series Fate: The Winx Saga after two seasons, with cast, crew, and fans left absolutely devastated.
Showrunner Brian Young announced the sad news on Instagram, writing: ‘This is not fun news to share, but Netflix [has] decided not to move forward with Season 3 of Fate: The Winx Saga.
‘This is especially tough because I know how many of you loved this season. It’s a heartbreaking silver lining, but a silver lining all the same. I’m so proud of everyone who worked on the show, and so happy we got to tell the stories we did.
‘Our cast and crew put in a ton of hard work creating this world and these characters. I’m grateful for each and every one of them, and for all of you for watching. It’s been an amazing four years. Hopefully we’ll see each other again in the future.’
Elisha Applebaum, who played Musa on the series, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking the cast, crew and fans of the show.
‘I am so grateful to have been trusted with a character as fun as Musa and been able to share your screens at home with a wonderful cast who I’m happy to call my fairy family,’ she said.
Paulina Chavez, who played Flora, simply reposted Brian’s statement with a broken heart emoji.
Fans are also heartbroken, with one commenting: ‘So incredibly heart broken. Season 2 was a glimmer of what the rest of the series would be and I was so looking forward to it 😩.’
‘Oh nooo, I cannot believe this🥺😭💔 I’m so so sad,’ another said.
One more added: ‘C’monnnnn that’s so unfair 😭.’
Fate: The Winx Saga starred Abigail Cowen as Bloom Peters, and followed the fairy as she adjusted to life in the Otherworld, where she must learn to control her dangerous powers.
The first season premiered in 2021, with the second being released in September 2022.
Fate: The Winx Saga is available to watch on Netflix.
