I’m a Star…Former Prime Minister Liz Truss has emerged as a frontrunner to go up for the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.
Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock leaped at the chance to spend time in the jungle and made it all the way to the final, now it appears that another MP may be following in his footsteps.
According to betting site OLBG, Conservative MP Truss is presently 25/1 to be among the next crop of celebrities to enter the jungle, as reported by The Sun.
The betting community believes Hancock’s ‘pretty decent’ performance will encourage Truss to see how she does.
Former The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner, former England player Peter Crouch, and former Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing are also in the running.
Truss, 47, set an unfortunate milestone last year by being the United Kingdom’s shortest-serving prime minister, standing down on her 50th day in office.
Truss stated last month that she did not’regret’ her brief term as president, but that she would never accept the position again.
Although she is still a sitting MP and is kept busy serving her people in South West Norfolk, she is likely to face less opposition than her predecessor Hancock if she decided to travel to Australia.
While Hancock was widely chastised for his decision, he did receive a whopping £320,000 for starring on the reality show.
If Truss enters the race, there’s a potential we’ll see the lettuce livestream return as punters compare which will outlast the other.
However, the politician will most likely be preoccupied with deciding whether to accept comedian Joe Lycett’s invitation to participate on his upcoming show, Late Night Lycett.
This week, Lycett took for a full-page ad in Truss’ local newspaper, the EDP, to reassure his ‘babe’ of his continuous devotion.
‘I’ll be honest, Liz – I miss you…not just in Downing Street but from my life,’ he wrote.
Lycett said he had spent ‘the last few months plotting your route back to power’, adding: ‘I think I’ve found the ideal first step. I’ve got a new live tv show starting on March 31 at 10pm on Channel 4 (thanks to your successor accidentally forgetting to abolish it) and I would love for you to join us.’
He added: ‘We’d give you a platform, allow you to speak your mind and provide at least three glasses of Echo Falls Pinot Grigio.’
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is streaming on ITVX.
