Sharon Osbourne has lambasted talent competitions as “very dated,” as she addressed Alan Carr possibly replacing David Walliams on Britain’s Got Talent.
It is unknown who will join Simon Cowell on the judging panel, though Strictly Come Dancing star Bruno Tonioli’s name has been mentioned.
Sharon, 70, previously served as a judge on The X Factor from 2004 to 2007, returning for repeat appearances over the years, and on America’s Got Talent from 2007 to 2012.
However, she’s now dubbed variety shows like Britain’s Got Talent as ‘dated’.
Chatting on The Talk on Thursday, Sharon explained: ‘But I think it’s kind of like a variety show, and you can only go so long before you’ve trawled everything.
‘These type of shows I think are very dated.’
She went on to add: ‘It’s over trawled here, so they bring talent from around the world – like they do in America. They’ll bring all Europeans over, just like they stood in line to rehearse when it’s set up before.’

Sharon went on to suggest that contestants should be prepared for harsh criticism.
She said: ‘I always used to say that after one or two seasons, if you’ve been watching that show and you go in and audition you know what you’re going to get.
‘So don’t act surprised or hurt because you’ve seen everybody else go to the slaughter.’

Discussing the rumours surrounding Alan joining the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel, the TalkTV host added: ‘I love Alan Carr, he’s a great guy, he will really add the to the show and so many people will tune in to watch him, he’s a lovely guy.’
Earlier today it was reported: ‘Alan is joining the line-up, it just has to be him he’s brilliant.’
‘The deal is being finalised, but it’s details now – and he’s totally up for it too. It’s the perfect hiring all round,’ the source added to The Sun.
Since then, an insider has added to the publication: ‘Signing up Bruno would be seen as a huge coup for Simon as he was always seen as a favourite on Strictly with his ostentatious style.
‘Bringing some of that hilarious magic across to BGT would help fill the big shoes left behind by comic David.’
