The moment Frasier fans had been waiting for arrived in the reboot’s season finale, when Roz Doyle returned to our screens.
Peri Gilpin, who portrayed the radio producer for all 11 seasons of the original series, has already stated that she will appear in a cameo.
She made an appearance in the most recent episode as part of an elaborate Christmas surprise for Frasier (Kelsey Grammer), courtesy of his son, Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
Despite just appearing on our screens for a few minutes – much of which was spent sassing her old employer – her entrance and their brief reunion left viewers moved.
Flocking to social media to discuss the scenes, a Twitter user penned: ‘Seeing Roz and Frasier together again. Instant tears. #Frasier.’
‘It was absolutely wonderful to see Roz back on #Frasier,’ another replied. ‘Peri Gilpin and Kelsey Grammer seem to have the same chemistry they did on Frasier.’
‘Welcome back Roz Hopefully, Niles and Daphne follow in season 2,’ a follower said. ‘Real tear jerker in the season finale, (Yes, I cried). #Frasier.’
‘I started crying when Roz came on! It was amazing to see them together again,’ a Reddit fan wrote.
As one added: ‘This one really made me laugh and even tear up at several moments.’
Honestly, same.
Bebe Neuwirth recently returned to her Lilith roots for a recent edition, although David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves had said that they would be taking a back seat.
When we last left Roz, she had been promoted to KACL station manager and was staying in Seattle while best friend Frasier went out to Chicago to pursue a relationship with Charlotte (Laura Linney).
The actress hinted the prospect of a future cameo while spilling the beans about her cameo.
‘It was fun to revisit and felt really good. I wasn’t expecting it not to be, but I really was surprised at how great it felt to be there again,’ she told The Wrap.
‘I genuinely love this character. So I would love to do it [again]. It just depends on what happens next.’
Frasier is available to stream on Paramount+ now.
