Friends star David Schwimmer revealed why he decided to compete in this year’s Great Celebrity Baking Off for Stand Up to Cancer.
The Ross Geller actor, 56, will be joined by a long number of celebrities, including Jay Blades from The Repair Shop, Gemma Collins from Dragons’ Den, and even AJ Odudu.
Loose Women’s Judi Love and Coleen Nolan, Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley, and Top Gear’s Paddy McGuinness will all put their baking abilities to the test.
David informs viewers ahead of Sunday’s premiere that he decided to participate in the celeb version because his grandmother and ex-(Zoe wife’s Buckman) mother died from cancer.
In footage obtained by The Mirror, the Madagascar star said: ‘I lost a grandmother to cancer, my daughter lost a grandmother to cancer and my sister is a cancer survivor, so it’s important to me.
‘I am just grateful I can help in any small way raise more awareness.’
Strictly Come Dancing‘s Ellie Taylor, Bafta-nominated comedian Rose Matafeo, Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson, Shaun of the Dead actress Jessica Hynes, and I’m A Celebrity… Adele Roberts, from the show Get Me Out of Here!, will also appear.
The epic lineup is completed by comic Tom Davis, writer Mike Wozniak, radio icon Tim Key, director David Morrissey, comedian Joe Thomas, and writer Lucy Beaumont.
They’ll all be vying for the title of Star Baker and avoiding soggy bottoms in front of judges Paul, Dame Prue Leith, and hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.
The Little Britain star returns to the Bake Off tent for the last time before stepping down from the position, which he stated was tough to manage many responsibilities.
The 48-year-old wrote: ‘xxx Farewell Bake Off! It’s been a delicious experience and I can’t imagine a more fun way of spending my summers, but it’s become clear to me that I can’t present both ‘Fantasy Football League’ and ‘Bake Off’ alongside all my other projects.
‘Therefore, after three seasons and 51 episodes, I am gladly passing the baguette to someone else.’
The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer airs on Sunday March 19 at 7:45pm on Channel 4.
