One of Gogglebox’s fan-favorite families has revealed their sadness following the death of their pet dog, who featured on the show.
Since joining the cast of the Channel 4 show in 2014, the Malone family has brought laughter, love, and foolishness into people’s homes throughout the country.
While Tom Malone Jr. opted to leave the show in 2020, his siblings Shaun and Vanessa, as well as his parents Tom Sr. and Julie, have stayed and are regularly visited by grandkids and their cute pets.
Julie posted on Instagram that the family had experienced the heartbreaking death of their dog Dave, whose fans had enjoyed watching when he rushed onto Gogglebox in the past.
She captioned a video she shared of Dave resting on the pavement, ‘RIP Dave xxx’.
‘There are no words to describe you, or how much you meant to us.This was you on Sunday waiting for your Dad to come back and he had only gone out to the car x
‘We are all going to miss you so much💔💔💔💔💔💔💔🐾🐾🐾🐾.’
Former Gogglebox actor Tom Jr uploaded a photo of himself with his beloved pet, as well as a video of Dave happily jumping at bubbles and hanging his head out the window of a car.
‘Heartbroken to let you guys know that Dave has sadly left us today…I think we can all agree that there will never be another one like him. Rest Easy Dave 💔 🐾.’ he wrote in his caption.
Shaun shared a video on her Instagram Story, in which he said: ‘Thanks to everyone for your messages and all that stuff about Dave. It is really appreciated.
‘It’s mental, the amount of times when I bump into someone that was a Gogglebox fan, and the first thing they’d say was: “How’s Dave?” or “Where’s Dave?” It’s mental.
‘Thanks for all your support guys.’

In another post, Shaun revealed he’d come across a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) in October 2019, which read: ‘The only reason I watch Gogglebox is for Dave, the day he dies I demand we all have the day off to mourn the loss of a national treasure.’
Following their loss, the Malone family has received letters of sympathy from both show fans and other cast members.
‘Awww rest in peace Dave 💔💔 sending you all lots of love xx,’ said Gogglebox’s Izzi Warner.
‘So sorry to hear this, he made me laugh so many times on Gogglebox, RIP,’ one fan commented, while another added: ‘Oh no, sorry to hear this. Dave was as much of a star of Gogglebox as anyone.’
Gogglebox returns on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
