Josh Tapper, a Gogglebox personality, has disclosed that he has proposed to his long-term partner Hannah.
The 26-year-old lawmaker, who was on the show’s inaugural season in 2013, announced the wedding on Instagram Stories, resharing congratulations comments from his pals.
His sister Amy Tapper, 24, couldn’t contain her enthusiasm and announced on social media that she now ‘officially’ had a sister.
Amy captioned a photo of a happy Josh and Hannah flashing a sparkler, ‘The phone call I’ve been waiting for and the best news in the entire world.
‘My best friends are engaged. I officially have a sister.’
The former Channel 4 star continued: ‘Welcome to the family Han, couldn’t wish for anyone better.’
Josh has a busy year ahead of him, since he has began a serious political career in addition to the wedding.
He is the Labour parliamentary candidate for Hertsmere in Hertfordshire, against Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden in the next general election.
Bookies anticipate he will win, with William Hill announcing his odds are 5/2.
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps, said: ‘This was a very unexpected move from Labour, but Hertsmere has only ever been represented by a Conservative MP, so the decision to alter their approach can only be seen as a positive.
‘Josh Tapper would be the first Labour candidate to win over the constituency and his odds of 5/2 to win the seat at the next General Election suggest that he has every chance of doing so.
Josh had been eyeing Whitehall for some years before leaving Gogglebox in 2018 to accept a Cabinet Office position.
At the time he told The Mirror that the door had been left open for him to return, but that ‘the focus is now very much on my job.’
Josh and Amy’s parents, Nikki and Jonathan, joined them on Gogglebox.
They all became fan favourites throughout their five-year stay, which ended in 2018.
Gogglebox is available to stream on Channel 4.
