House of The Dragon is about to undergo a huge casting shake-up which has already left fans gutted.
We’ve only got another two episodes left with Milly Alcock at the helm as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen before she’s replaced by Emma D’Arcy when the Game of Thrones prequel time jumps midseries and the younger stars are all ditched.
Emily Carey, who stars as Alicent Hightower, now wife of King Viserys, will also be swapped for Olivia Cooke, while Nanna Blondell and John MacMillan will also be replaced as Leana and Laenor Valaryon.
Some of the younger actors have been universally praised by fans, particularly Alcok whose fearless performance as the princess has made for unmissable television.
While the likes of D’Arcy and Cooke will no doubt be exceptional when they’re finally introduced in House of The Dragon’s sixth episode, fans still can’t get over the idea of leaving the current cast behind.

‘Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra Targaryen is one of the most perfect castings ever, i’ll never get over it,’ said one viewer, while another agreed: ‘RHAENYRA TARGARYEN IS A BADASS HEIR I’m not ready to say goodbye to Milly Alcock.
A third superfan added: ‘Milly Alcock as Rhaenyra Targaryen is just absolutely right. Something regal about her, she can command a scene, captivate her audience.
‘I will miss her stellar performance. She definitely served, ate and left no crumbs.’
The latest episode of House of The Dragon saw another big time jump, with Viserys and Alicent now parents to a son, the new heir to the throne.
