We can reveal that ITV has cancelled a popular celebrity comedy programme.
CelebAbility, hosted by Love Island narrator Iain Stirling, ran for an astonishing seven series.
It will not, however, return.
CelebAbility premiered in 2017 and has now broadcast 52 episodes.
It had a slew of notable visitors throughout the years, including Stacey Solomon and Scarlett Moffatt.
As guest team leaders, series 7 included comedian Katherine Ryan, Big Brother presenter Will Best, I’m A Celebrity’s Snoochie Sky, and Towie’s Pete Wicks.
The concept of the ITV2 game show saw celebrities from the entertainment industry compete against a team of friends in a variety of physical, light-hearted tasks.
Each disputed round was based on a talent or ability that the celebrities claimed to have.
Those that advanced to the final round had to satisfactorily answer a series of questions in order to receive a monetary award.
Following reports that the show had been scrapped, an ITV spokesperson said: ‘There are no current plans for another series’.
However, the channel claims that the show has been “extremely successful.”
This comes after claims that it was shelved because it was “tired.”
The Sun previously reported that CelebAbility was branded ‘dated’ by bosses, claiming this was the reason they decided it wasn’t worth bringing back.
An insider the publication: ‘CelebAbility had a decent run, but ultimately the format was a bit tired and celeb panel shows can feel dated.
‘Bosses are always keen to try new ideas and invest in fresh telly projects, it’s time for a change and Iain isn’t short of work.’
Indeed, Scottish presenter Iain, who began his career on CBBC, has a full plate.
Next year, the actor will embark on his RELEVANT stand-up comedy tour, which will take him across the United Kingdom.
Iain’s personal life is also looking good, as he is in a relationship with ex-Love Island anchor Laura Whitmore.
Iain and Laura are their own Love Island success story, having married in 2020 and welcoming a daughter named Stevie Re. They previously worked together on the successful dating programme, which Iain began narrating in 2015.
