Jamie Lynn Spears is allegedly resisting invitations to share her opinions ahead of her appearance on I’m A Celebrity…I Need to Get Out of Here!
The cast of the new season of the reality show was unveiled this week, with This Morning’s Josie Gibson, JLS’ Marvin Humes, former politician Nigel Farage, and Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson ready to join the jungle shortly.
Jamie Lynn, who appeared in the Nickelodeon adolescent sitcom Zoey 101 and is the younger sister of pop queen Britney Spears, joins them.
She’s also had a public battle with her older sister in recent years.
While it is expected that Jamie Lynn, 32, will speak about her famous brother, she is supposed to be avoiding interviews before arriving to camp.
Contestants generally do media interviews before the cameras start rolling, but the actress and singer will not.
‘While it is a choice whether camp mates take part in the interviews, they usually do – no questions asked,’ a source has said.
‘But Jamie said no and that she didn’t want to speak before she entered the show.
‘It was very disappointing, fans of the show are so excited about what she has to say,’ they added when speaking to MailOnline.
The celebs go through quarantine and stay in several hotels around the Gold Coast without phones and only a chaperone to speak to in the days before they enter the jungle.
Their sole opportunity to connect with the outside world is through press interviews, where they may convey their hopes for the next tournament and solicit public support.
While other celebs have spoken to the media, the mother-of-two has’refused to communicate with anyone from the media,’ according to the tabloid.
Ahead of her latest stint on reality TV, Jamie Lynn has said she wanted to ‘enjoy this whole experience…even if it is for one second’.
While she admitted she was ‘scared of everything’, she hoped her time in the jungle would be a ‘nice chance to show who I really am’.
Jamie Lynn has appeared on the shows Sweet Magnolias, Dancing with the Stars, and Special Forces: The Ultimate Test in recent years.
However, in her biography, The Woman In Me, Britney spoke of her rocky relationship with Jamie Lynn.
She wrote: ‘My sister and I should have found comfort in each other, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case.
‘As I was fighting the conservatorship and receiving a lot of press attention, she was writing a book capitalising on it.
‘She rushed out salacious stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous.’
Britney added that she felt ‘really let down’.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! returns on Sunday at 9pm on ITV1.
