Jennifer Lopez has spoken up about her’stressful’ wedding planning after marrying Ben Affleck.
The Love Don’t Cost a Thing hitmaker, 53, and The Last Duel star, 50, formally married in July in Las Vegas, two decades after they initially became engaged.
The following month, the pair will hold a second fairytale wedding ceremony on their 87-acre, $8.9 million (£7.3 million) Georgia estate.
The Hustle actress appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, when she told the 55-year-old host that the Vegas elopement was a spur-of-the-moment choice.
She added that they had intended to marry in Savannah, but Jenny from the Block became overwhelmed with the planning, calling it’stressful.’
The On The Floor singer continued:’ And a month before, and I don’t know if you guys noticed, but 20 years ago, we were supposed to get married. And it kind of all fell apart back then.
‘And this time, I absolutely had a little PTSD and I was like ”Is this happening? I this really happening?”‘
‘We were so happy, and of course it was happening, but I just felt the wedding was so stressful and one day Ben just said, ”F*** it, let’s just go to Vegas and get married tonight,’ Jennnifer added, while the audience burst into applause and laughter.
The stars, of course, went on to throw a bigger party with a star-studded guest list that included Matt Damon, Kevin Smith, and Jason Mewes.
The couple has been known as the Bennifer since the early 2000s, and Jimmy asked J-Lo what she thought of the moniker.
She replied: ‘I’ve learned to embrace it. Years ago it was kind of like ”Oh, Bennifer.”
‘Actually it wasn’t a bad thing even years ago but I think it became a thing where people made fun of it.’
They started dating in July 2002 and were engaged in November of that year.
They did, however, postpone their September 2003 wedding and eventually divorced in January 2004.
Ben and Jen remarried in April 2021, more than 17 years after their divorce.
Jennifer is married for the fourth time, having previously married Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony, while Ben was previously married to actress Jennifer Garner.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! is broadcast on ABC in the US.
