Jenny Powell has revealed how shocked she was to hear that her 21-year-old daughter Connie Baxendale has been approached to star on Love Island.
Producers of the ITV reality dating show, which this year saw Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma Owen come second place and Ronan Keating’s son Jack Keating dropped in as a Casa Amor bombshell, actually wanted another famous offspring too.
Jenny revealed: ‘After I appeared on Loose Women with my eldest daughter Connie, Love Island producers got in touch and asked her if she’d be interested in going on the show. She is gorgeous, so I left it to her.’
But she was still surprised at the news, as she added to The Sun: ‘I spat my coffee out when she told me and I said, “What did you say?”‘
However, Connie wasn’t interested in entering the villa, having already coupled up.
‘And she replied, “That I’ve got a boyfriend and I’m doing a History of Art Degree in UCL,” and she left it at that,’ Jenny explained.

She added: ‘She’d never do it. I think they contacted her through Instagram.’
Jenny shares Connie and 13-year-old Pollyanna with her ex-husband Toby Baxendell, who she split from in 2009.
This year’s series saw Gemma and fishmonger Luca Bish come second place, as Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Culculoglu were crowned winners.
Along with Gemma and Jack, Love Island has starred other famous faces including EastEnders star Danny Dyer’s daughter, Dani, in season four, in which she was crowned winner alongside Jack Fincham.
Meanwhile, Tommy Fury, Tyson Fury’s half-brother who left the villa with Molly-Mae in 2019, and Marcel Somerville, from Blazin’ Squad (which he may have mentioned a few times) have also starred on the show.
Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
