After filling in for Piers Morgan throughout the course of the summer, Jeremy started hosting his own primetime show on TalkTV the following year.
It was on the controversial talk show The Jeremy Kyle Show, which was cancelled in 2019 after the death of a guest named Steve Dymond, that he first came to widespread public attention.
Following his appearance on the show, Dymond took his own life, which prompted a significant amount of attention to be paid to the way the show was managed as well as the way its guests were handled.
Following the scandal, the host stayed away from television for three years, and the news of his return to the small screen was met with strong opposition at the time it was announced.
