Doctor Who’s Jodie Whittaker has teased her upcoming regeneration scene, admitting it’s ‘one for the Whovians’.
Whittaker is set to bow out of the beloved BBC sci-fi drama alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall next month in the centenary special, The Power Of The Doctor, ending her five-year reign as the 13th Time Lord.
It’s already been revealed that the Doctor will face three of her biggest and most terrifying enemies – the Daleks, the Cybermen, and the Master – in the episode and she’ll also reunite with some old friends, including Ace (Sophie Aldred), and Tegan (Janet Fielding).
‘It’s a huge treat if you’re a proper fan,’ Whittaker enthused of her last appearance. ‘It’s got all the iconic things that you associate with Doctor Who. It’s massive.’
Shedding light on her emotional final scene, she said: ‘I love the dialogue Chris wrote for my regeneration. It captures my Doctor beautifully. It’s simple, epic, and beautiful.’

Whittaker explained that the scene was filmed in one long take. Speaking to Empire, she added: ‘When I could see the crew was happy with that last shot, that’s when my bottom lip started going.
‘I was like, “Well, they can’t say they need another take now because I’ve f*cking lost it!”’
Showrunner Chibnall previously teased that ‘Jodie’s final feature-length story contains a plethora of treats and surprises for audiences and fans’.
On the return of ‘two of the most beloved companions in the show’s history’, he added: ‘They’ll be helping the Doctor fight on three fronts, against her deadliest enemies; the Master, Daleks, and Cybermen, in one huge story!
‘For the BBC’s Centenary, we’ll be celebrating the past, present, and future of Doctor Who, in a fittingly thrilling, epic, and emotional send-off for the 13th Doctor.’
Whittaker’s exit will pave the way for the arrival of the 14th Doctor, played by Sex Educations Ncuti Gatwa, and the return of Russell T Davies.
Doctor Who returns to BBC One in October.
