Almost a year after her son’s birth, Khloe Kardashian has confirmed that his name is Tatum.
The 38-year-old welcomed a son via surrogate with Tristan Thompson last summer, but has kept him largely out of sight since then.
After he made his Instagram debut in December, she hinted that his name would be disclosed in the season three premiere of The Kardashians.
Midway through the episode, the mom-of-two told the camera: ‘His name is Tatum. So Tatum and True. Naming a human is hard.’
Khloe’s decision to introduce a second child with Tristan, 32, occurred just prior to the revelation that he had covertly fathered a son with Maralee Nichols, with much of the aftermath being captured on camera.
Since then, the on-again, off-again couple has gone their separate ways but remained close for the sake of daughter True and their new child.
The Good American designer confirmed Tatum’s birth in August, and a special episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians gave viewers a glimpse of their infant delight.
Khloe disclosed elsewhere in the premiere how difficult she found the surrogacy process, calling the voyage to her second child a “mindf**k.”
Sister Kim Kardashian, who previously welcomed children Chicago and Psalm via surrogate, candidly revealed to Scott Disick, ‘She had a really hard time accepting the whole process.
‘I do think there is a difference when the baby is in your belly, the baby actually feels your real heart, it touches your organs.
‘There’s no one else on this entire planet that will feel you from the inside like that. Your heart.’
Khloe shared: ‘People can connect in different ways, people could not connect.’
When asked if she felt ‘less connected’, she agreed: ‘People say it’ll take a minute. But Kim said hers was easy, this is not easy.’
‘I definitely buried my head in the sand during that pregnancy, that I didn’t digest what was happening,’ she admitted in a confessional. ‘When I went to the hospital, I really think that was the first time that really registered.
‘It has nothing to do with the baby, it’s just… “Okay, we’re having a baby, this is my son and I’m taking him home with me.” I definitely was in a state of shock, I think, from my entire experience in general.
‘I felt really guilty that this woman just had my baby and I take the baby, and I go to another room and you’re separated. It’s such a transactional experience because it’s not about him.
‘I wish someone was honest about surrogacy and the difference of it, but it doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s still great. It’s just very different.’
The Kardashians airs on Hulu in the US and is available to stream on Disney+ in the UK.
