Arnold Schwarzenegger, at the age of 75, still possesses a machine-like physique.
However, the Terminator actor does not appear as comfortable striking poses as he did during his bodybuilding days.
Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in the new Netflix series FUBAR as a covert CIA operative, proving that he has not left his action-packed days behind.
Nonetheless, in a recent interview, he discussed how his self-perception may have evolved over time.
Speaking to Men’s Health! as the cover star for the magazine’s July/August 2023 Influence Issue, Arnold was asked whether he still hits his old classic bodybuilding poses decades after finding fame thanks to his unique physique.
‘Yes, but only in the bathroom, because sometimes it makes me cry,’ he replied. Can we take Arnie’s word for it? We may never know.
He explained that his motivation to train has changed since his youth, as he now works out to’stay alive’ and ‘to be able to do my films’.
Regarding his message to the younger generation pursing a career in bodybuilding, Arnie issued a word of caution regarding their methods when it comes to caring for their bodies.
‘Yes, we are at a time now where we always look for the easy way to make money, the fast way to get rich, the easy way to be an influencer. Anytime you abuse the body, you’re going to regret it,’ he stressed.
‘So I just want young people to know that I have seen people getting kidney transplants and suffering tremendously from it.’
Arnold’s first starring role in a scripted live-action TV series is in FUBAR, which premieres on Netflix on Thursday, May 25.
He co-stars with Top Gun: Maverick’s Monica Barbaro, and the father-daughter duo discovers that they’ve both been CIA operatives.
In addition to Jay Baruchel, Fortune Feimster, Fabiana Udenio, Milan Carter, and Travis Van Winkle, the trailer featured Fabiana Udenio, Milan Carter, Travis Van Winkle, and Gabriel Luna.
The July/August 2023 issue of Men’s Health—the Influence Issue—hits newsstands nationwide on June 27.
