Liam Reardon revealed the true reason he appeared on Celebs Go Dating following his breakup with Millie Court.
After weeks of speculation, the couple has now confirmed that they have reignited their romance.
The couple endured a rollercoaster journey on Love Island 2021 and went on to win the series in its entirety. They also purchased a property together before announcing their separation in July 2022.
Millie, 26, stated at the time that it was a “tough decision” and she was “devastated,” but it was ultimately what was best for her and Liam, 23, “right now.”
Liam turned to dating experts Paul Carrick Brunson and Anna Williamson shortly thereafter on Channel 4’s Celebs Go Dating, and he has now disclosed the true reason why.
Speaking to Chloe Burrows on her new podcast, Liam said: ‘It was a funny time, I went on there, I wasn’t looking for any…’
‘Yeah I don’t think people do go on there to do that,’ Chloe agreed.
Liam continued: ‘I went on it as it was a business opportunity, for the money.
‘If you had have asked me two years ago when I was on a building site, “You’re going to go on a show, do a couple of days and get paid this”, I would have been like ‘f***ing hell, I would have done backflips”.’
He added: ‘I knew it was a controversial thing because it was two months after me and Millie broke up.
‘I wasn’t ready to be out dating, especially on TV, but you’ve got to take these opportunities.’
Liam discussed his breakup with Millie on Celebs Go Dating, stating that he needed to learn to ‘love himself’ first.
He said: ‘In the villa everything was stripped back, you’ve just got each other, and I fell in love with Millie, and we just went from strength-to-strength.’
Liam continued: ‘It’s been a rollercoaster, I went from a small life in Wales, being a bricklayer to being catapulted into this new life and I found it difficult.
‘You’re trying to give 100 per cent to each other, you’re trying to give 100 per cent to yourself, you’re trying to give 100 per cent to this new life and career and it’s hard to juggle everything at once.’
When Paul directly asked who broke up with who, Liam replied: ‘I instigated it because if we want to be together, I want to be 100 per cent together.
‘For me to love her, I need to love myself and for the past few months I need to find myself a bit again.
‘Just never say never, in the future we could rekindle.’
Despite the fact that they have not yet addressed their reconciliation, it appears that the couple is back together.
A source told MailOnline: ‘There’s no denying that Millie and Liam’s romance is very much back on.
‘They wanted to keep their relationship private for as long as possible because problems between them happened when they were put under pressure by fans.
‘But now they have got to know each other again away from the cameras and spotlight and have reignited the love they first found in the Love Island villa.
‘Soon enough they will go public on Instagram but for now, they have been enjoying holidays together and keeping their romance off social media.’
Celebs Go Dating is available to watch on All4 while Love Island is available on ITV Hub.
