Linda Robson has claimed that she was afraid of being fired from Loose Women following a live NSFW gaffe.
From where her kid was conceived to what she puts in her knickers drawer, the Birds of a Feather star doesn’t hold back on the panel.
But probably the most memorable event from a live programme in 2021 was when she unknowingly breached the greatest daytime television taboo and unleashed an F-bomb.
When the 65-year-old emerged from behind the scenes to explain the current competition, she didn’t notice the cameras were filming.
Pushing a trolley into the studio from backstage which held the prize money, she began: ‘They’ve left me in charge of the prize, can you believe it?’
Linda continued: ‘This is it. It’s £1million right here in this trolley. It came straight from the ITV bank account this morning.’
But when she returned to set, she was perplexed, asking, ‘How the f**k do I look at it?’
Her other panellists, notably Brenda Edwards and Charlene White, broke out audible shouts in response to the remark, prompting her to inquire, ‘Are we live on air?!’
Linda has now acknowledged that she was frightened of receiving the axe at the hectic time.
In an interview with the Daily Star, she said: ‘The day that I said the F-word, I thought I was going to lose my job.
‘I really did. I got into trouble over that.
‘It was half-term, so kids were watching. When I got back to the green room, everyone was talking.
‘The producers were okay because I didn’t swear at somebody… I hadn’t said “F*** off, you!”‘
She added that she’s still warned not to swear, but admitted: ‘I do swear when we’re not on air and it’s just me and the audience. They love it when I swear.’At the time, host Charlene stepped in to apologise for Linda.
She exclaimed: ‘Apologies, apologies, I would like to apologise for Linda’s language, she knows she’s done wrong!
‘I think Linda has forgotten we are live on air, Linda would you like to continue and apologise?’
Linda persisted on continuing after the hiccup, while co-star Brenda couldn’t stop giggling.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
