Lorraine viewers were in uproar after a discussion about Meghan Markle that was branded ‘bitter.’
Royal editor Russell Myers joined host Christine Lampard to talk about the Suits actor’s latest interview with The Cut magazine.
Published on Monday, the Duchess of Sussex railed against press treatment of her family and the fact she could not share images on a personal Twitter account under royal media protocol.
The 41-year-old also talked about how the n-word was used to describe her child.
On Tuesday’s episode of the chatshow, which also featured a chat with Ridley star Bronagh Waugh, Russell criticised Meghan’s latest media outing.
‘She has really, really pushed the buttons in this and she has not held back,’ the broadcaster said.
‘I mean it’s 6,500 words this article and she relays her dissatisfaction and treatment of when she was in the monarchy [and] it was only a couple of years.’
He went on to say: ‘She’s almost layered some veiled threats by saying, “I can say anything.”‘
Russell continued: ‘It will be interesting to see the backlash because a lot of people will say, “People are struggling, there’s the cost of living crisis” and people are wondering what position the monarch really has.
‘The fact that Meghan is bemoaning her life while sitting in a $15million dollar mansion really has some serious questions to be asked I think.’

Fans flocked to Twitter to share their outrage at the remarks, with one saying: ‘People also might say, if she’s bothering you that much, stop reporting on her? keeps you in a job I suppose #lorraine.’
Another wrote: ‘@rjmyers why are you so bitter? #lorraine.’
‘Get this wannabe Piers Morgan off. Dreadful man,’ an outraged viewer penned.
One simply said: ‘#Lorraine This toxic British Press.’
‘How sad if you think that having a $15M mansion means that you don’t care that you’ve been subjected to racism and had false stories about you peddled across the world #Lorraine,’ a fan shared.
Meghan has also been slammed by Piers, 57, this week after the interview, which he described as ‘revolting.’
‘Even by Markle standards, this is a revoltingly self-aggrandising, disingenuous & hypocritical load of royal-bashing tosh,’ the TalkTV host said.
Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
