Love Island’s Maura Higgins has become the latest star rumoured to front the upcoming Big Brother reboot.
August kicked off with a bang as it was revealed in a teaser that Big Brother would be making its way to ITV2 next year.
Fans were immediately sent into a frenzy at the news, and speculation is rife over who would be hosting the hit reality show (even Jedward offered their services for the gig), and it looks like ITV bosses have a strong TV personality in their sights.
The 31-year-old Irish star became a household name after appearing in series five of Love Island, and has featured on Dancing on Ice and also hosted the beauty transformation show Glow Up Ireland.
Reports claim that bosses are planning to steer away from Big Brother stars and are hoping for a female presenter to take the lead.
‘Maura is a homegrown ITV talent who has all that – plus of course looks great on screen,’ a source told The Sun.

However, an ITV spokesperson insisted no decisions have been made as yet.
TV bosses aren’t the only ones eyeing up Miss Higgins for a presenting gig, as devoted Love Island superfans voted for her to host the next season of Love Island after Laura Whitmore confirmed her exit.
The 2019 bombshell received 33% of the vote, above Maya Jama (27%), Love Island champ Ekin-su Cülcüloğlu (15%), Emily Atack (13%), AJ Odudu (7%), and Katherine Ryan (6%).
After presenting the hit reality series for five years, Emma Willis recently ruled herself out of hosting the upcoming revival.
‘I think with every new era of Big Brother, I think there should be a new host,’ she told RadioTimes.com.
‘I don’t tend to go back. I like to move forward.’
She continued: ‘I think it’s right. It’s starting again, it’s got a new home – it should have a new host.’
It’s been claimed that despite Big Brother moving over to ITV2 for its revival, having previously been on Channel 4 and Channel 5, it ‘won’t be like Love Island’ when it comes to its line-up of contestants.
‘There will be a diverse casting across a range of ages, which is what made Big Brother so special,’ a source said, according to The Mirror.
‘It won’t be like Love Island, where the contestants are all young social media influencer types – they want “all walks of life”.’
Big Brother returns to ITV2 in 2023.
