Ruchee Gurung’s search for a soulmate came to an end in the first few minutes of Wednesday’s programme, when she was ejected from the show.
After a surprise re-coupling rattled the island, the 24-year-old beautician was left without a partner.
After two fresh bombshells were given first pick among the males, Ruchee and Ella Thomas were the last two girls standing around the fire pit at the end of the following evening’s programme.
Once the majority of the islanders were married, the virtual voice of God directed them to choose either the Ruchee or the Glasweigan model to rescue from dumping.
Medhi Edno was entrusted with breaking the news, and she stated that the group believed Ella had a greater chance of connecting, so she sent Ruchee on her way.
As she packed her bag and left the villa, the budding star admitted: ‘I thought that I would be disappointed, but I’m not because I tried my best and I was myself. It didn’t work out for me and that’s completely fine.
‘I thought that Ella was going to get saved because she has a connection in there, I would have probably even nominated myself to go – I’m so happy that they chose her.
‘I’m glad I got to experience being in the Villa. Coming from an Asian background, I did it for my community – represent! My journey was short, but it was sweet, so I’m happy.’
Ella and her ex-partner Tyrique Hyde fought over the footballer’s attempts on Leah Taylor, who eventually chose him when the opportunity presented.
Despite being invited on a date with the new bombshell, he revealed to Ella that she was on his thoughts.
Asked whether he wants to get to know both of the girls, Tyrique said: ‘I don’t know. If I’m being honest, when I was on the dates you were in the back of my head still.
‘I said to them it would take a lot… if we have conversations and that, my mind could change, I told them I’m not fully closed off basically.’
Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
