After it was revealed that the duo knew each other as children, Love Island star Kai Fagan has opened out about his relationship with Marcus Rashford.
Kai is poised to enter the villa for this year’s winter series, which will see Maya Jama replace Laura Whitmore as host, as well as make-up artist Lana Jenkins and the villa’s first ever partially sighted participant Ron Hall.
Marcus went to school with the 24-year-old science and PE teacher, who used to play semi-professional rugby.
Kai stated to Metro.co.uk and other journalists before entering the villa that the couple is no longer in contact.
‘No, I’m not still in touch with him,’ he told us.
‘I was in the same class as him from years 7 to 11, we went to the same sixth form, it was a really small sixth form.
‘We grew up in the same area, I bump into people and I go to the gym with a few of his close mates but we’re not in direct contact with each other,’ he added.
In another post, the teacher addressed the reaction he would get from his students, who he said can say ‘cheeky’ things while he’s looking for love.
‘I think they’ll all be shocked, I would be if I had a teacher going on Love Island.

‘But every year Love Island comes on TV they’re like, “Mr Fagan, you should go on Love Island, you’d be amazing, go and smash it.”
‘There’s always rumours that I’m going to go on the show so I think they’ll be absolutely buzzing when they see it and probably make a load of TikToks.
‘They’ll be seeing their teacher topless, they’ll be like *sharp intake of breath*.’
Kai added that he ‘hopes’ his students will be cheering him on, saying: ‘They’ll be watching and buzzing to see what I get up to.’
Love Island returns on Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
