It has been reported that many members of this year’s Love Island cast and staff have fallen ill with a “nasty stomach ailment.”
Two weeks have passed since the winter cast moved into their Cape Town digs, and it appears that life behind the scenes isn’t as glamorous as it appears on TV.
There is limited information regarding how the illness spread across the villa, but it has caused diarrhoea among the actors and personnel.
A source close to the production claimed, “It has ravaged its way through the set and the aftermath has been less than pleasant.”
The islanders have been “hurrying to the Beach Hut for a conversation, and sometimes rushing off to use the lavatory,” they told The Sun.
According to the article, the candidates have continued working hard despite the setback.

After Tom Clare and Ellie Spence’s kiss was revealed on Monday’s show, tonight’s episode promises to be dramatic.
Will Young found out via Ellie, who had confided in him, and told Tom’s ex-girlfriend Zara Lackeny-Brown about their kiss.
Zara, thinking she had a “bay boy bit of information” about the 23-year-old footballer, went out onto the terrace to share it with her competitor, Olivia Hawkins, who had emotions for the player.
Presenter Maya Jama is returning to the villa this week, and her return has us worried that a surprising reunion between two of the contestants is imminent.
In her latest Instagram post featuring backstage photos from Love Island: Aftersun, the host wrote: ‘Episode 2 of aftersun last night🖤 can not wait to be back in South Africa this week.’
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
