Molly Marsh is left stunned on tonight’s episode of Love Island as Mitchel Taylor decides to step back.
Sammy Root’s surprise appearance on Thursday’s show made quite a stir as he took Molly, Jess Harding, and Ella Thomas on dates in the hideaway.
This evening, he tells Mitchel how he feels after his three dates, and admits Molly, who is presently matched with the 26-year-old gas engineer.
‘I’m not going to lie, Molly was my fave. I’d want to get to know her. ‘At the end of the day, she told me she was open to meeting new people,’ Sammy adds.
‘Do your thing, get to know the females,’ Mitchel answers. Let the strongest guy win.’
After learning that Molly is eager to meet new people, he pulls her away for a discussion later that night and exposes his own position.
‘I don’t want to give you the energy I think you deserve, when you’re not going to give me any reciprocation back. I’d rather let you do your thing,’ he tells her.
He adds: ‘No one compares to you right now. I’m still gonna adore you, I still think you’re great… I don’t wanna cuddle and all that stuff anymore, I wanna sit back and I want you to explore your options.’
The major question now is where this leaves Mitchel and Molly, given that he’s expressed his sentiments at the worst possible time, with a recoupling on the horizon.
Mitchel receives a text message that sends everyone reeling with the series’ first recoupling, with one unlucky chap being ‘immediately’ expelled from the resort.
He reads: ‘Islanders, tonight there will be a recoupling. The girls will each choose which boy they want to recouple with.
‘The boy not picked to be in a couple will be dumped from the island immediately. #LeaveItToTheLadies #BroBye’
Molly also sits down with Sammy and discloses something that has been on her mind, believing that their paths had crossed before.
‘You either remind me of someone or I’ve met you and I don’t know how,’ she admits, while he responds: ‘You’ve definitely been thinking about this all night! I hope it’s a good thing…’
‘It is a good thing because I feel like I know you,’ he adds, and he quips: ‘Maybe we met in a past life, when you were a seagull and I was a chip!’
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
