A Married at First Sight bride has denied being questioned by police after allegedly ‘cutting up’ her new husband’s clothing.
The newest season of the reality dating show premiered last week, with eight of the ten couples already married.
Porscha Pernnelle, 35, married youth worker Terence Edwards, 41, during Monday night’s show.
However, it has been reported that the pair has already quarrelled, with reports that she wrecked the flat they shared during shooting after an intense disagreement.
While it was said that she had been ‘questioned by police’ after being accused of ‘cutting up her husband’s clothes and smashing two of his designer watches’, she’s now hit back to shut down the claims.
‘It is simply not true to say that I was questioned by the police,’ she said in a statement by Channel 4.
‘This never happened and this claim has caused me terrible distress.
‘I cannot believe this claim has been published.’
Terence, a father of three, was said to be astonished when he discovered his clothing and personal goods, including a Michael Kors and Hugo Boss watch, had been destroyed during one of the show’s commitment ceremonies, where candidates pick whether to stay or quit the process.
A Channel 4 spokesperson said that while some clothing was ‘damaged on location’, the ‘contributor had the items replaced or was reimbursed by production’.
A source had earlier explained the couple were ‘struggled to get along’ during filming and ‘often had different ideas about their marriage’.
‘On multiple occasions, Terence opted to leave the show while Porscha was keen to stay and so tensions continued to rise in their partnership,’ they told MailOnline.
Porsha, a devout Christian, had worries about their new relationship working on the programme because Terence is a DJ and frequently partied in nightclubs until the early hours, but she preferred to be in bed by 11 p.m.
Porscha questioned Terence on his religious beliefs before asking him his name, and Terence confirmed that he is a Christian.
Porscha attends the event alone in a preview for the impending first dinner party, and while her spouse eventually joins, there looks to be a lot of tension.
‘Why are you coming over just to tell me again how it’s all my fault?’ Porscha fires at him.
Later, in an emotional outpouring, she asks another bride what she has done to ‘warrant such disdain’.
Married at First Sight is streaming on Channel 4.
