With his take on the famous meal, mac & cheese, a Masterchef candidate has stretched the boundaries.
Josh was participating in a challenge for a spot in the top ten, and he chose to take a risk in order to achieve his goal. Half of the 14 contestants were instructed to create a meal that they would serve at their own restaurant or pop-up, or that they would include in their own cookbook. Of course, this is all hypothetical because they haven’t arrived yet!
The Stratford-upon-Avon-based candidate went for cheese singles rather than sophisticated cheeses, such in the kind you could get in burgers at a BBQ. Josh described them as ‘fake cheese.’ He chose evaporated milk to complement that wayward option.
The spaghetti came with BBQ short ribs, jalapeño cornbread, and pickled slaw.
In explaining his selection, the 25-year-old informed judges John Torode and Monica Galetti that mac & cheese was his “favourite dish in the world” and the “first dish I learned to cook.”
Unfortunately, the sentimental decision and his ‘fake cheese’ were insufficient, and he was eliminated from the competition, losing his chance to cook in a professional kitchen.
He also failed to impress spectators, who were perplexed about his components.
One person joked that he needed to face time behind bars for his choice: ‘Bro on MasterChef just made mac and cheese with condensed milk and plastic cheese only. Should have been put in jail on his way out.’
Another viewer suggested he went the wrong way about it if he wanted to get people to enjoy his dish. They began by quoting Josh, ‘I really wanted them to like my macaroni cheese’ before adding ‘Perhaps you should have made it properly instead of using condensed milk and plastic cheese?’

A third viewer used sick-faced vomit emojis and asked a series of questions to express her shock: ‘Is that evaporated milk? Is it fake plastic cheese? ‘Are you watching Masterchef?’
The world simply wasn’t ready for Josh and his cheese slices at the time.
