When loved-up couple Max George and Maisie Smith both participated on the celebrity edition of The Chase, Bradley Walsh got more than he bargained for.
As Maisie swooned over her boyfriend’s gesture, it appeared like an official proposal was on the cards.
Unfortunately, it was all a ruse… But may there be wedding bells in the future?
Bradley, 62, asked on the ITV quiz programme if a romance had blossomed between EastEnders star Maisie, 21, and The Wanted singer Max, 34.
The TV host claimed that he had no clue they were romantically linked after discussing their former experience on Strictly Come Dancing.
‘When is the big event?!’ Bradley exclaimed, asking a question that many fans may have been thinking about.
‘Funny you mention it…’ Max smoothly replied, reaching into his pocket.
Maisie, being the fantastic actor that she is, played up to Max’s simulated proposal, getting up and fanning her face in apparent surprise.
As the audience applauded, she hurriedly sat back down.
Fans will have to wait a little longer for the possibility of a genuine diamond ring!
Several viewers adored Maisie and Max’s dynamic on The Chase, with one person tweeting: ‘Maisie Smith and Max George currently being very cute on #thechase. Love them!’

The couple made their relationship public last summer, after meeting on Strictly in 2020 and beginning on a two-year acquaintance before romance developed.
Maisie addressed critics’ worries over their 13-year age difference in March of this year.
‘People don’t understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship and I think they also forget that I’m a consenting 21-year-old woman who’s actually been working longer than Max!’ she told The Sun on Sunday.
‘I don’t notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family.’
She continued: ‘I really don’t care what I random person thinks of my relationship when everyone I do care about is incredibly supportive.
‘I’ve been in the business long enough to know you have to have a thick skin.’
