Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Brendan O’Carroll reprises role as Agnes to announce first autobiography

Brendan O’Carroll has revealed he is releasing his first autobiography charting his time on Mrs Brown’s Boys and beyond.

The actor and comedian, 66, has announced his first book, Call Me Mrs Brown, which will be released in October with a special skit as Agnes.

Brendan shared a clip on the show’s official Instagram page in which he is seen sitting in a dressing room looking at his phone, before announcing to someone off-camera: ‘Well, the book seems to be going well.’

Viewers are then shown that he is in fact talking to his iconic character of Mrs Agnes Brown, as he responds in full character: ‘A book? About what?’

Brendan then tells Agnes: ‘Well, it is about my life, about where I came from and where I am going,’ which she responds that it sounds ‘boring’.

He then continues: ‘No, look, it’s not boring, it’s really interesting. I think it is anyway. I mean, you look at my childhood and how I grew up and where I…’’, as he looks up to see Agnes snoring in the opposite chair.

Waking up with a start, Agnes then asks what the book will be called and suddenly seems a lot more interested in it when she finds out it will be titled ‘Call Me Mrs Brown’.

The official Instagram account added: ‘Delighted to announce that Mrs. Brown’s Boys writer & creator Brendan O’Carroll has just finished his autobiography ”They call me Mrs. Brown” available for pre order in all major book stores.’

It comes after it was revealed earlier in the year that Mrs Brown’s Boys is said to be returning for its first full series on the BBC in nine years.

The comedy show sees Brendan play the Irish mammy Agnes Brown and last aired a full season in 2013, with several specials airing since.

A source told The Sun earlier in the year: ‘Everyone is very excited, it’s lovely to be working on another series. The cast can’t wait to see Brendan’s scripts.’

Another source added: ‘This is something that everyone wants to happen, and we are working out the schedule for 2022/23’.
