Nigel Farage will be on our screens tomorrow for the first episode of I’m A Celebrity… I’m Out of Here 2023. Yes, this is happening, people.
The former UKIP leader is entering the jungle as the highest-paid contestant ever, joining Sam Thompson, Jamie Lynn Spears, and Josie Gibson.
Farage will be the second controversial right-wing politician to enter the jungle in two years, hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
This follows the appearance of disgraced former Health Secretary Matt Hancock on the show last year, which appears to be a trend for the ITV show.
However, it appears Farage will be ‘exempt’ from some of the show’s famous bushtucker trials, which frequently involve creepy crawlies and downright disgusting challenges.
Explaining the specifics of his medical exemption from certain tasks, Farage told The Sun: ‘Well, anything involving weightlifting, I’d be out because I’ve obviously had some quite serious physical injuries and neck reconstructions and goodness knows what else.’
‘So they are fully aware that I’m a little bit damaged when it comes to bodily structure. But having said that, I can still do most things.’
Farage suffered a punctured lung, two chipped vertebrae, a fractured sternum, and several fractured ribs after his UKIP campaign plane crashed in 2010.
‘I doubt that any of the trials are actually going to kill me, although I don’t think they’ll all be a bag of fun,’ he added to the publication.
Following the announcement of Farage’s name for this year’s series, stars called for a boycott of the show.
On her ITV show, Lorraine Kelly said: ‘I personally think it is wrong.’
‘I think it’s very bizarre,’ she added and predicted he’d rule himself out of trials for health reasons.
Jason Manford has announced yet another boycott of the series.
‘Gutted to have to miss another series of I’m a Celeb! H**cock last year & F****e this year, it’s a hard nope!’ he wrote on X.
‘Shame cos there’s some lovely and charming other contestants going in.’
Fellow comedian London Hughes also weighed in, adding: ‘If I went on I’m A Celebrity and found out I was on the show with Nigel Farage, I’d leave and sue for racial negligence… but that’s just me,’
She continued: ‘I’d say that I’m quite shocked that ITV is platforming a racist as a form of entertainment, but nothing really surprises me anymore.’
Jason Manford has announced yet another boycott of the series.
We will see about that…
